Day 22

This morning we were joined by Alex's Aunt Sarah.  We showed her that we are quite good at singing!  Some of these songs seem extremely mellifluous, extreme gibberish however, is not among them!  Our morning was spent working very hard, I won't say what we worked on, but it was pretty awesome and took ALL day.  I hope you are ready to be impressed at tomorrow's mini fair!  The things we worked on today were so super secret that I did not even take a single picture, partly for the element of surprise, and partly because we were SO busy.

We still managed to play and have fun.  We had a very brisk swim and spotted another leech.  The focus of town meeting pertained to wedding plans and all that entails.  We also worked as a group to set up the schedule for tomorrow to make sure we have time for everything.

Today we liked:

  • the whole day!
  • getting ******'s done
  • getting rides set up
  • making ******* **** for tomorrow
  • that Bob will be the best man at the wedding and Jake will official the ceremony
  • working on mini fair stuff
  • putting the remaining houses on land
We wish:
  • the ******** would work
  • if was tomorrow already
  • we didn't have to talk about he wedding (says Spencer)
  • tomorrow doesn't go by too fast
  • the day after tomorrow wasn't the last day of camp
  • for chocolate cake
  • the ********* worked

  • to swim longer
  • the mini fair goes well!!!

Day 21

Today was spent working very hard.  After our morning songs we all went down to the sheep shed to get stuff done!  Some homesteaders began the arduous task of assigning and clearing land for the mini fair.  Many others worked on their booths, prizes and signs.  We still have a couple homesteaders putting the finishing touches on houses.

After lunch, during our swim we caught a leech at the pond.  Roarie was ready with his salt to conduct experiments he has been waiting to do since camp began.  There was quite a lot of screaming involved to kill one little leech!

Our afternoon was spent setting houses on the land in the woods.  It is looking pretty good out there!  We have many nice level houses nary a foundation!  A few homesteaders were reunited with their peeps after a long separation out on the land.  These peeps had big news.

At town meeting we voted for a Petiteborough anthem.  Suggestions were: "the Jeep Song", "Mt. Dew", the "Swimming Song", and one that Cedric wrote called the "Peep Song", this is set to the tune of "Fish and Chips and Vinegar".  The "Peep Song" took the most votes.  Moving on with business, it was proposed and moved to have a law against vandalism.  The measure passed without much discussion.  Next homesteaders let the fair organizers know where they want their booths.  In other business, Spencer and Tayissa informed us that their peeps, Bob Marley and Violet, left alone in the wilderness for far too long are getting married and are expecting twins!   There were congratulations all around and many requests to be brides maids!  Shortly after this our moderator lost her clothes and T-Rex got her a towel.

Today we liked:
  • the whole day!
  • moving houses out to the land
  • getting houses done
  • all day
  •  that it did not rain
  • finishing our paint jobs
  • almost finishing houses

We wish:
  • to launch a rocket
  • for world peace
  • we all remembered to bring a change of clothes to swim
  • Chris would visit again
  • people wouldn't talk over each other
  • Saraphina would put on the some proper clothes
  • Violet shared her situation sooner
  • Bob and Vi did not have this situation
  • we had more time to swim
  • we did not see a leech up so close
  • luck to Bob and Vi
  • for endless wishes!

Day 20

Sadly this is our last Monday of camp.  We celebrated it by learning a great new song about a
broken ban-jo-lo-lo!  Ask your homesteader to sing you this silly song.  It will definitely put a smile on your face.  We also had several very rousing renditions of the "Proper Coffee Song", it occurs to me that I might perhaps call this song by a different title every time I write about it.  I do not actually know what it is called, but we all love it and enjoy singing it as fast as possible!

We were joined this morning by Owen's sisters, Kerri and Margaret. They helped us with some ideas for the mini fair since they have been to so many.  All morning we worked on min fair plans.  Remember the mini fair will be this Thursday from 3 to 6.  It looks like we are going to have some pretty cool rides and delicious delicacies!

After lunch we went for a brief swim, but were chased away from the pond by thunder in the sky.  We all scurried back to camp.... faster than I have ever seen some campers go all summer!  The afternoon was going to be spent in the woods.  However, we decided to play it safe and stuck around the barn playing outdoor games until the storm was imminent.  At that point some homesteaders went up to the peep loft to work on mini fair items while others went down (safely) inside the sheep shed to finish up houses and build mini fair attractions.  Others among us played a game of murder!  There was no agenda for town meeting today, and hence, nothing to discuss.

Today we liked:
  • the whole day!
  • playing murderer
  • narrating murderer
  • finishing mini rocket ride
  • working on the mini fair
  • finishing houses
  • that it rained
  • that Tayissa has paint all over her face!
We wish:

  • it didn't rain
  • we had more time to swim
  • we got to see lightening
  • thrust-er did not break on rocket
  • blind man's bluff went better
  • we could have put our houses on our land
  • we got more mini fair stuff done
  • we had more camp!!!!

Thumbs up!

Day 19

I believe we began today off our dot.  Be it the rain or the simple fact that today is Friday and a lot of homesteaders were tired.  Perhaps we were off this morning because we were all so sad that today was Maria's last day with us.  Whatever the cause, singing seemed to be a good cure.  We sang the "Pirate Song" and "Good Ol' Mountain Dew", then we broke out into some very satisfying rounds of "Black Socks"... with scream accompaniment.  Cedric composed an anthem for Petiteborough called "The Peep Song", it is set to the tune of "Fish and Chips and Vinegar".  It is a nice combination of fact and humor pertaining to our town.  Ask your homesteader if they remember any of it.

Our morning was spent tying up loose ends.  Some homesteaders finished (or nearly finished) their houses, more money was printed, furniture was made and mini fair projects were started.  We ate lunch in the peep loft and moved onto some indoor activities for recess with a game of ultimate frisbee outside, in the mist.  Our first edition of the Petitebortough Press became available for purchase today.  This newspaper caused quite a stir.

This afternoon we were joined once again by Susan Lord and her juggling tricks.  Today she helped some of us fine tune our skills and taught us how to juggle with hoops.  Juggling hoops is very hard, we were able to find other uses for them though!

Thank you Susan!!!!
The first topic at town meeting pertained to an incident involving Saraphina and destruction of property.  A very respectful debate ensued:
Blaze, "Saraphina ripped her article out of all of the newspapers she could find."
Saraphina, "Who would want to read it if it had bad sequence?"
Marguete, "Articles written for the newspaper become property of the newspaper.  Not the author."
Morton, "Destroying purchased property is vandalism."
Blaze, "Peeps purchased the newspaper with their own money, Saraphina should not have vandalized them."
Violet, "There is no law against vandalism."
Morton, "She stole the article- stealing IS against the law!"
Pilik, "It was disrespectful, she should have known better."
Morton, "She stole from the federal government Itself!"
Blaze, "She was totally out of control, she vandalized and stole.  This is totally against the law, we should vote."
Bob, "Newspapers are trash, who cares about trash?"
Mr. T, "I was hoping to read a newspaper out of the trash."
Motion:  Saraphina pays for the vandalized papers.  The nays have it.  "Reconsider", nays have it again.  "Reconsider", nays have it a third time!
Morton, "This was more a publicity stunt than justice."

Violet and Jake brought up our next agenda topic: Respect.
Violet, "Our only rule is safety.  The disrespect got so bad today that it violated the safety rule."
Bob Marley, "Respect shouldn't have to be a law.  Respect is a cultural thing."
Violet/Tayissa, "This is a discussion about our village, not our peeps.  There has been too much disrespect."
Bob Marley, "There should be a rule, not a law.  First a warning, second you should not be able to participate in capture the flag or swimming."
Jake, "I think we are all grown up enough for this not to be a problem, we should just grow up."
Morton, "Where do we draw the line with respect?  Laws revolve around mini people.  Respect revolves around humans."
Bob Marley, "If we don't leave today on a good foot we won't be able to organize a fun mini fair.  Things got worse as the day went on- I know it's gloomy, but it should always be fun- no yelling, or ignoring."

We ended the meeting on these very insightful words and took a cupcake break for Molly's birthday.
Happy Birthday Tomorrow Molly!!
Thank you for the cupcakes Rhonda!!
Sadly we had to say goodbye to Maria today, she has been a good friend to us all and we will miss her very much.

Today we liked:
  • this meeting was not boring
  • during recess we saw a lot of teamwork
  • getting a cupcake
  • the whole day!
  • it was hilarious getting stuck in a juggling hoop
  • settling a lot at town meeting
  • that it didn't snow!
  • smooth meeting
  • going forward
  • getting a lot of bank stuff done
  • everyone got a cupcake
We wish:
  • there was no disrespect this week
  • disrespect did not happen
  • we won't have to talk about respect again
  • we had another cupcake
  • it was less wet
  • it wasn't gloomy
  • our day went better
  • there was a more positive atmosphere most of the day
  • "people wouldn't make fun of my rat that died"
  • the bank got more done
  • everyone could have more cupcakes!
  • we would have a better sense of humor
  • it was Molly's birthday everyday!!
